CAMPAIGN 2008:
TANELLI & YAMPAGLIA PICK-UP THE SUPPORT OF
CONGRESSMAN ROTHMAN, SHERIFF McGUIRE AT RUTHERFORD STREET FAIR!

NORTH
ARLINGTON - Council President Steve Tanelli
and former Councilman Mark Yampaglia picked up the endorsements of Congressman
Steve Rothman (D-9) as well as Bergen County Sheriff Leo McGuire this weekend
while campaigning at the annual Labor Day Street Fair in Rutherford.
McGuire,
who was re-elected to a second term in 2007 is one of Bergen County's rising
political stars. A former Oakland councilman, Sheriff McGuire is a former
member of the Ridgefield Park Police Department and veteran of the the United
States Army, where he served his country as a member of the military police.
Congressman
Steven R Rothman has been a member of the United States House of
Representatives since 1997. Now seeking a seventh term, Mr. Rothman sits on the Appropriations
Committee and is a
former member of the House Judiciary Committee.
Re-elected with over 70% of the vote in 2006,
Rothman is noted for securing federal funding for road and transportation as
well as fighting the urbanization of the New Jersey Meadowlands. The former
Mayor of Englewood, Rothman also served as Bergen County Surrogate from
1993-1996.
Council
President Steve Tanelli praised both Rothman and McGuire.
"Congressman
Rothman has been a close friend to Democrats here in North Arlington for over a
decade. His political support and opposition to EnCap is greatly appreciated as we move forward to keeping North
Arlington small, safe and suburban."
"Sheriff
McGuire is a state-of-the-art law enforcement official who understands how to
keep small communities like North Arlington safe and secure. I'm proud to have
his support in this effort," said former Councilman Mark Yampaglia, a
practicing attorney.
Local
Democrats kicked off this year's campaign by taking an active role in the Labor
Day fair in Rutherford where they met hundreds of North Arlington residents
along with Mayor Pete Massa, Councilman Al Granell and Democratic Club
President Ken Ludviksen.
"Our
goal is to meet as many North Arlington residents as possible so that people
understand our record and our commitment to stopping the likes of EnCap and the urbanization of North
Arlington. We kept property taxes stable this
year and we intend to do the same next year. Only North Arlington of all the
surrounding Bergen County communites was able to deliver on a "zero"
tax increase for homeowners," noted Tanelli, who is seeking a second,
three-year term.
