Campaign 2008:
NA GOP raising money from out-of-town sources!

NORTH ARLINGTON - According to campaign reports filed on July 7th with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC), local Republicans are looking to Lyndhurst for donors & donations.
While political parties were required to list all donations up until the July 15th deadline, the Bocchino & Herrmann campaign held a fundraiser on June 30th at The San Carlo Restaurant in Lyndhurst. None of the expenditures or contributions from that event appear in this quarterly report.
"State law requires that all donations accepted by the North Arlington Republicans be posted in the 7/15 quarterly report. I find it odd that no mention of the June 30th fundraiser is part of that document," observed Councilman Al Granell, the campaign manager for Council President Steve Tanelli and former Councilman Mark Yampaglia.
According to the 7/15 filing, Republicans received donations in excess of $300 from the following sources:
* Del Vecchio for Freeholder ($1,000 - Hackensack)
* Professional Insurance Associates, also known as PIA ($300 - Carlstadt)
* RS Knapp ($750 - Lyndhurst)
* Daniel Doran ($1,500 - Lyndhurst)
* Galaxy Recycling ($300 - Jersey City)
* Steve Weilkotz ($500 - Pompton Lakes)
According to the same report, the NA Republicans had a closing balance of $5,694.18. They won't need to file another club report until October 15th, come twenty days before the November 4th general election.
Democrats found the report strange given the fact the Republicans have now uploaded a website, but the report fails to show any expenditures relative to the construction and maintenance of such a campaign tool.
"Who paid for the website? That's an honest question," asked Granell.
While Republicans seem to be raising money, they are avoiding Democratic requests for a debate.
"Bocchino seems to have plenty of time to solicit donations from Lyndhurst, Jersey City and Passaic County, but he doesn't seem to have the time to sit down with Democrats and agree to debate Council President Tanelli and former Councilman Mark Yampaglia," noted one Massa supporter.
