gMASSA SPEAKS WITH CORZINE ON THE STATUS OF ENCAP AND FUTURE DEVELOPMENT

Attending the retirement dinner of former state PBA President Mike Madonna, North Arlington Mayor Pete Massa got the chance to speak with New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine over the future of EnCap and redevelopment in the Meadowlands.

"It was an awkward meeting in that we were at a party of sorts, but Governor Corzine understands our concerns and I think we can move forward should a new developer emerge," said Massa after his brief encounter with state's chief executive.

Amid the impending default of the embattled developer EnCap, strong rumors suggest that a California based developer Catellus, a division of ProLogis could step forward and try to save the sprawling residential gold project that spans through Rutherford, Lyndhurst and North Arlington.

"My concern is North Arlington. We don't want Arlington Valley and we won't impose eminent domain seizure. I'm confident if a change is made we can sit down like adults and come to a solution that leaves all parties satisfied. But North Arlington will not back pedal as it relates to our demands to get this housing off the table," said the mayor.
